چکیده

Heavy metal pollution in soil and water has been of worldwide concern due to their biotoxicity/ecotoxicity the ecosystem, accumulation food chain, persistence environment. Microbially induced carbonate precipitation (MICP) is known as an efficient cost-effective biogeochemical process for remediation heavy metals contaminated This study reviews mechanisms biomineralization urease-producing microorganisms with various trace elements. Biogeochemical factors affecting formation biominerals were discussed. These included growth urease activity microorganisms, calcium concentration coexisted cations/anions, dissolved inorganic carbon, pH, redox potential, etc. In addition, biomineral morphology its controlling such medium types, microbial species, extracellular polymeric substance analyzed well. Finally, challenge current knowledge gap on further application MICP metal–, element–, U-polluted soils presented.

Sequestration of Radionuclides and Metal Contaminants through Microbially-Induced Carbonate Precipitation

Microbially induced carbonate precipitation (MICP), an emerging technology for soil improvement, also may be used to sequester (biomineralize) radionuclides and metal contaminants (e.g., 90 Sr 2+ , Cd 2+ ) in groundwater, a significant problem at some U.S. Department of Energy sites. Previous work using the bacterium Bacillus pasteurii suggests that in-situ sequestration of these contaminants c...

Heavy Metal Toxicity in Soils: Sources, Remediation Technologies and Challenges

Soil pollution with heavy metals draws a serious concern because of their detrimental effects on the living biota. The persistent and non-biodegradable nature of heavy metals eases their accumulation in the environment. Agricultural soils are receiving tremendous amount of pollutants from the various sources. During the last few decades, rapid urbanization, industrialization, injudicious and fa...

simulation and experimental studies for prediction mineral scale formation in oil field during mixing of injection and formation water

abstract: mineral scaling in oil and gas production equipment is one of the most important problem that occurs while water injection and it has been recognized to be a major operational problem. the incompatibility between injected and formation waters may result in inorganic scale precipitation in the equipment and reservoir and then reduction of oil production rate and water injection rate. ...
